Stowmarket & Area Foodbank

Providing individuals and families from Stowmarket and the surrounding areas who are in crisis with emergency food parcels.

Purpose of the Foodbank

The Stowmarket and Area Foodbank was launched in October 2012 to provide individuals and families from Stowmarket and the surrounding areas who are in crisis with emergency food parcels. It is run in conjunction with other churches in the area, through Stowmarket Churches Together.

We work with local organisations to identify individuals and families who can benefit from our services (this also helps us reduce fraud).

Everyone who needs a food parcel is required to be referred by one of our 50+ referral agencies, (CAB, Schools, Support workers, Health visitors, BMSDC) these agencies will complete the paperwork and get in touch with us on their behalf.

Parcels

We provide generous emergency food parcels, containing dried and canned goods, plus tea and personal hygiene products.

Find our Pop-up Shop

Our Foodbank is for emergency temporary support only. We realise, however, that people sometimes need additional support above what the Foodbank can offer. Therefore our pop-up shop is open weekly for continued ongoing support on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (one day per family), 10:30 am to 11:30 am, at the Catholic Centre in Stowmarket, with near/end-of-date products, and surplus/damaged stock. There is a minimum donation of £1 per bag, bags are provided.

Donations for the foodbank or popup shop can be dropped off at any of our collection points in local supermarkets: Asda, Lidl, Tesco, Aldi, all local Co-ops, Stowupland Garage, and also Stowmarket Community Centre.

Pop-up Shop – Wednesdays, 10:30am to 12pm, at the Catholic Centre, Stowmarket.
