Hilltop Church

Hilltop Church was launched on Easter Sunday 2015 in Masaka, one of the cities in the south of Uganda. It mostly consisted of young people, with Pastor Sam who was then 31 years old and the oldest member of the congregation. Many of their initial members were aged between 5 to 22 years old. For a year they were known as the youth church in town.

They have since grown to congregations in five locations.

Hilltop Buhenye, as we call it, started in the living room of our unfinished house with six children in late September 2022. Sam’s wife, Serah, led the worship service. These children then invited their mothers, and Sam’s father also attended the following week.

Since then, the church kept on growing in numbers. The news of its starting excited our friends Dave and Grace Ziegler, who mobilised resources for us to purchase a piece of land for the church. They also organised a trip to Uganda, and together we held a crusade in November 2022, culminating in the launch of the church at our current location, where over 200 attended.

Since then, the congregation has continued to grow, and more congregations have asked to join our fellowship of churches, which now numbers five.

Our Partnership with New Life Family Church

In all this work, New Life Family Church has been an integral part of what we do. Together, we have fed the hungry through foodbanks in Masaka and Kampala, trained women in tailoring and hairdressing, built a house for a lady who was sleeping in a shack in Masaka, encouraged pastors through seminars, and bought Bibles for young people.

New Life has assisted Pastor Sam’s family in acquiring a vehicle for ministry and supported them in the construction of their house.
